Kyvos

A new release of Kyvos just went public, and it is available for everyone to download. I am taking this opportunity to share with you details of a few new features that were introduced with this release.

The biggest addition is the new way of editing the kickstart.zip files that are used with AmigaOneXE and Pegasos2 emulated systems running AmigaOS 4.1FE. These files contain the necessary drivers and modules required to boot the OS.

From this window, the users can edit the contents of the kickstart archive, add/remove driver modules, enable/disable them and change their order. With Kyvos v2.2.0 it is possible now to emulate SCSI controllers, having the hard disk and CD images run from them. That requires the VirtualSCSIDevice driver from https://github.com/derfsss/VirtualSCSIDevice to be installed in the kickstart.zip file. Use the above window and this will be as easy as a drag 'n drop process.

Furthermore, a new way to mount a folder from the host system is possible from this version of Kyvos, and that is the Virtio9PFS mount. The Virtio9PFS-handler is required to be installed and configured in the operating system, which can be downloaded from https://github.com/derfsss/Virtio9PFS-handler.

Both Virtio9PFS and VirtualSCSIDevice are enabled only for AmigaOS 4.1 FE, as they are available only for this operating system.

Starting with this version, the new MorphOS 3.20 is required when creating a MorphOS-based virtual machine. Also, there were plenty of fixes for AROS systems.
